Poetry

Joseph Millar is the author of three poetry collections including Overtime, a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. Joseph is the recipient of multiple prestigious fellowships.

FICTION

Molly Gloss is the bestselling author of five novels including The Hearts of Horses, and Falling From Horses. Her work has earned numerous awards and her stories have appeared in several anthologies including The Norton Book of Science Fiction.

Elizabeth McKenzie is the critically-acclaimed author of three novels including the The Portable Veblen released in 2016 and short listed for the Bailey's prize. She is the managing editor of Catamaran Literary Reader and senior editor at Chicago Quarterly Review.

NONFICTION

Frances Lefkowitz is the author of the memoir To Have Not, and is the former senior editor of Body+Soul magazine and book reviewer for Good Housekeeping.

Elizabeth Rosner is the author of three novels and a memoir, all of which gained immense popularity and critical acclaim. Rosner's personal experience informs her writing.

Daily Craft Talks

Enjoy two optional daily guest lectures open to all registered participants. Topics include fiction, poetry, drama, and nonfiction giving attendees a chance to experience craft lectures outside of their workshop.. Craft talks are optional from 2:00 to 3:00 and 3:30 to 4:30 daily in the Rosen main lecture room. The craft talks will be presented by authors, poets, and publishers.

Evening Lectures and Readings

Each evening join us for a reception at 7:00 followed by an evening reading at 7:30. The readings will be presented by our poetry and prose faculty, as well as two guest readings in each genre. This year's special poetry talk will feature poet Dorianne Laux. This year's special prose talk will feature novelist and essayist Jonathan Franzen.

Literary Themed Excursions

John Steinbeck tour:

Visit Cannery Row and the historically preserved Ricketts Lab on Cannery Row where Ed Ricketts and John Steinbeck met to create The Log of the Sea of Cortez. The tour is open to all registered participants.

Robinson Jeffers tour:

Visit Tor House, the poet’s home and stone tower at Carmel Point. The tour is open to all registered participants.

Robert Louis Stevenson tour:

Hike the physical site that was the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island at Point Lobos. Experience the beautiful vistas that inspired writing and art along the central coast. Choose between a relaxing stroll to the China Cove, or a more rigorous hike up the Bird Island Trail up to Pelican Point. The tour is open to all registered participants
